The walk zone
From the point, the practical walking radius with a board is the southern third of the strip and the lanes directly behind it, roughly a kilometer. Inside it sit the surf camps, surfer guesthouses and a growing set of mid-range and cabana stays that trade on exactly this proximity.
Beyond that radius you are in tuk-tuk territory, which is fine for one session a day and tiresome for three.
Why the south end fills first
In peak season the point is the town's engine, and the beds nearest it go first, many to returning guests who book season to season. If June to August is your window and the point is your priority, book this zone months ahead.
Who should stay here
Intermediate and advanced surfers, dawn-patrol devotees, and anyone whose trip succeeds or fails on time in the water. Beginners gain little: their waves are at Whiskey Point and Peanut Farm, so they can base anywhere and ride out.
