Main Point vs Whiskey Point: Which Base Should You Choose?
This is the choice most surf-minded visitors end up weighing: the famous point at the bay's south end, or the mellow beach scene 7 kilometers north. They are different trips.

- Distance apart

- Whiskey base
- Quiet cabanas in the palms

- Base on the Main Strip

The waves
Main Point is the destination wave: a long, fast right-hander for intermediates and up, at its best June to August, with a competitive lineup in peak weeks. Whiskey Point is the nursery and the cruise: soft, forgiving, ideal for first waves, longboarding and easy sessions. The honest rule: learn at Whiskey, graduate to Main.
The bases
Around Main Point you sleep inside the surf machine: camps, surfer guesthouses, dawn-patrol culture and the strip's restaurants within a walk. Around Whiskey Point you sleep in the palms: spread-out cabanas and small boutique stays, dark quiet nights, dinner mostly where you stay.
The verdict
Choose Main Point if the wave is the reason for the trip and you surf it. Choose Whiskey Point if you are learning, traveling as a couple or family, or want the beach without the scene. Mixed groups have the easy compromise: base on the Main Strip and ride to both.

Can you stay between the two?
